Well, Reuven, you’re probably not paying attention to this discussion after all these years, but let me just say, as one who is “half Jewish,” (my father was a non-practicing Jew), the prophecies in the Hebrew Bible clearly indicate Bahá’u’lláh’s coming as the “King of Kings, Lord of Lords” (to quote Handel’s Messiah) in the future. A new series of three books called “The Coming of the Glory,” by Eileen Maddocks, explains how Jewish prophecies have been fulfilled, even according to dates stated in the Book of Daniel. I recommend these books. I learned a LOT about my own heritage and how it relates to my Bahá’í Faith.

While I appreciate your sharing your own thoughts about Judaism in this comment, I wouldn’t say that I knew “next to nothing about it.” I went to Jewish children’s classes until I was 15 (though I didn’t have a Bat Mitzvah) and explored both its history and its practices as part of my search, and ultimate decision, over a 10 year period. There’s more to the story than mentioned in this article, including my childhood within an observant Jewish family. Maybe someday I’ll write more about it . . . maybe.

The Jewish nation has survived for more than 3,500 years, outlining all the great civilizations of the past, under some of the most adverse conditions imaginable. Did you really believe that the watered down collection of half truths and outright fantasy that you got from your family could possibly be the real deal?!

Greetings Rose. You are right – I am not suggesting that. Thanks for asking.

Because that is not advisable by our Beloved Guardian of the Faith! We have our own celebration of Nawruz, etc…

Thanks Craig for raising such an interesting question. Reflecting back through the years now I would say it closer to your 2nd thought, i.e. a search for significance in religious practice combined with a search for personal identify.
