There’s a great lesson to be learned there, although we should never forget that God created everything for a purpose, especially human beings, as the prayer suggests. Let us hope at this critical time that we will finally recognize we all “belong to the same household” and need to work together to bring peace on earth.

In the words of Carl Sagan himself, about the image:
“In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.”
And:
“There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another…”

If we want provision, shelter, and life for all, as your prayer says; if we want peace and unity of mankind, we must go out and ensure that it happens ourselves.
