I don’t recall all the details, but they think the reason the captain didn’t see the iceberg was because of an optical illusion that made it invisible until it was too late. I went to the Titanic museum in Liverpool, and what made me sad, and it was something I hadn’t thought of before, was how much work so many thousands of men put into building that ship. It was really unbelievable. I always wonder how all those shipbuilders felt when they heard the news. It must have been terrible.

Great story! There are probably more than a few who can tell of something similar. There are always those who get bumped from various conveyances for various reasons, including airplanes and trains, which end up in a disaster. They go on to live a normal life. The Master avoided such a disaster Himself, we should all recall, when He refused a first-class ticket a believer offered Him on the Titanic.
