I remember a TV documentary about the Titanic. I don’t recall all the details, but they think the reason the captain didn’t see the iceberg was because of an optical illusion that made it invisible until it was too late. I went to the Titanic museum in Liverpool, and what made me sad, and it was something I hadn’t thought of before, was how much work so many thousands of men put into building that ship. It was really unbelievable. I always wonder how all those shipbuilders felt when they heard the news. It must have been terrible.

In reply to Bob Mather. Great story! There are probably more than a few who can tell of something similar. There are always those who get bumped from various conveyances for various reasons, including airplanes and trains, which end up in a disaster. They go on to live a normal life. The Master avoided such a disaster Himself, we should all recall, when He refused a first-class ticket a believer offered Him on the Titanic.

I haven’t been able to verify this story but I believe it to be true until conclusive evidence proves or disproves it My dad then 9 years old his mother three sisters and a brother were escaping an abusive drunk my grandfather in Manchester they had 3rd class passage and made their way to Southampton for embarcation when they were bumped due to overbooking first and second class passengers had priority.they stayed in Southamton until the next ship of the white star line left destination Halifax on the way to new york city and made their way to Montreal where he met my mom and I the twinkle in his eye came into this world many years later. there you go Ya baha el abha
