I’m a candle fan, too, though in a different way. At night, before I say my prayers and readings, I light two candles, and as I light the first one, I say, “Yá Bahá’u’l-Abhá! As I light the second one, I say: “Yá ‘Aliyyu’l-A’lá! Then I repeat saying those invocations later as I extinguish them. It’s something I dreamed up myself, nothing in the Writings. We can always do things like this the way we like, which is just one of the good things about the Faith. By the way, Bahá’u’lláh brought me back to belief in Jesus. I’m sure there are a lot of Bahá’ís like me.

And how beautifully you symbolized it through your “becoming” devotional. I wish I had thought of that when I declared my faith in Baha’u’llah decades ago. As a Christian, I was well aware that Christ had brought me to Baha’u’llah and marveled at the way that Baha’u’llah had, as you say, strengthened my faith in Christ and given me a new, deeper appreciation for and understanding of His ministry.

Ironically, my husband, who was an agnostic or atheist, depending on when you asked, became a Baha’i about a year after we married. He likes to say that Christ proved Baha’u’llah to him, while Christ proved Baha’u’llah.

All that to say, your story resonates very strongly with me.
