This is excellent! I wish I could forward it to every Buddhist I know, although I have to say, I don’t know many these days. I did go to a Japanese Buddhist funeral last week and found it a little distressing that amid all the praises of her character, there wasn’t one mention of an afterlife, nor were there any prayers for the woman who had died. I said one for her from the prayer book to myself. I had told her about the Faith. I hope she heard my good wishes for the progress of her soul.

Reading this you can tell that the explanations of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá are clear and persuasive and able, unlike any other, to reconcile Eastern and Western spiritual concepts in an astonishingly satisfying way.

Nirvana is not a paradise or some special place of happiness, but is in fact the condition beyond all dualistic concepts, including those of happiness and suffering. When all our obstacles have been overcome, and we find ourselves in a state of total presence, the wisdom of enlightenment manifests spontaneously without limits, just like the infinite rays of the sun.
