If a person is in despair and despite their best efforts cannot forgive themselves, think of suicide or self harm, then please seek the advice of a doctor. When a person experiences depression that just won’t go away, it is a symptom of illness and it is important to realize that you aren’t alone, that help is available if you reach out for it. I speak from experience.

And there must be condemnation before forgiveness is necessary. Forgiveness is the great need of this world, because people (!) condemn themselves.
